William Edward Merryman, 84, of Reisterstown, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson.
Born Oct. 18, 1929, in Greenville, he was the son of the late Edgar Merryman and Gladys Louise Dayhoff Merryman. He was the husband of Betsy Allman Merryman.
He served honorably in the Navy during the Korean War
. He retired from Safeway Foods in 1989.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children and spouses Kimberley and Jeff Ruark, of Towson, and Tammy and Danny Bentley, of Hanover, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Kathryn Ruark, William Ruark, Sarah Bentley and fiance Brian Mayberry, and Abigail Bentley; and a great-grandson, Hunter Bentley Mayberry.
He was predeceased by a brother, Granville Merryman; and sisters Sherlene Singer and Evelyn Schaeffer.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service, 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, with Mike Ritter officiating. Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
