Vernon Harry Mummert, Sr., 88 years old of Glyndon, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Hanover Hall in Hanover, PA. Born June 14, 1926 in Reisterstown, he was the son of the late Henry Jacob Mummert and Anna B. Pueschel Mummert. He was the husband of Hilda Maudella Curtis Mummert. He served honorably with the U.S. Army in WWII. He was an Industrial Engineer with Black and Decker. He was the longtime leader of the Reisterstown Recreation Council in the 1960's and 1970's. He was a member of the Glyndon United Methodist Church and the Glyndon Bible Class. Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons and their spouses, Vernon H. Jr. and Susan Mummert; Kirk C. and Lisa Mummert; grandchildren, Lauren, Megan, Matthew Vernon, Kirk Harrison, and Michael Curtis Mummert. Also survived by nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his brothers, Oswald, Donald and Albert Mummert. Friends may call on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills where services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be offered at
