Matilda Campbell Griffin, 91, of Hampstead, died Thursday August 7, 2014 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester. Born August 16, 1922 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Kuester Campbell. She was the wife of the late Roland James Griffin, who died in 1999. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and gardening. She did volunteer work for Carroll County schools and the Carroll County Cancer Center. Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Carol and James Markle of Hampstead and Diane Griffin of Mt. Airy; granddaughters, Angela Markle and Jennifer Dumnich and her husband Craig; great-grandchildren, Valerio, Giada, Antonio, Rocco and Lana; and goddaughter, Deborah Adamiak. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 15801 Trenton Road, Upperco with her pastor, the Rev. Melvina Stricklin. Interment will be in Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Baltimore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to ELCA World Hunger, P.O.
