Nancy Ann Akers, 54, of Taneytown, died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at home. Born Nov. 24, 1955, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Alton Bennett and Esther Hush Wilson. She was the wife of Ronald James Akers, her husband of 24 years. She had been a registered nurse for 30 years at Springfield Hospital Center, retiring in 2008. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters and sons-in-law Angela Fosdick and Shane McQuay, and Bridget and Jason Basso, all of Sykesville, and Megan and Kevin Crabtree, of Crofton; a mother-in-law, Etta Akers, of Westminster; brother and sister-in-law Michael and Mary Wilson, of Sykesville; a sister, Debra Stevens, of Sykesville; grandchildren Stephanie Tegeler, Maggie, Jayme and Ellie Fosdick, and Nicholas, Justin and Hannah Basso, all of Sykesville, and Cameron and Natalie Ripple, and Priscilla Crabtree, all of Crofton; and friends Joni and Charlie Enos, of Sykesville. She was predeceased by a father-in-law, Burgess Akers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
