Arlene Louella Doig, 79, of Bridgewater, Va., formerly of Randallstown, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 31, 1933, in Smithfield, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lela Conrad Sadler. She was the wife of the late Russell Ritter Doig, her husband of 43 years.
Prior to becoming a homemaker, she had worked for the National Security Agency in Washington, D.C. She was an active member of the Covenant of Grace Presbyterian Church in Reisterstown, where she led many Bible studies.
After moving from Randallstown in 2010, she resided at the Bridewater Retirement Community and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, Va. She was expecting her first great-grandchild in April 2013.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Laura Beth and Brenton Burkhart, of Essex, Bonnie Anne and Michael Downey, of Massanutten, Va., and Margaret Allene and Allen Richardson, of Dallas, Ga.; a son, James Russell Doig, of Powder Springs, Ga.; a brother, Ronald Wayne Sadler, of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren Christopher and wife Megan Richardson, of Statesboro, Ga., Benjamin Richardson, of Dallas, Ga., and Avery, Graham and Caden Doig, all of Atlanta, Ga.; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.. Friday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Covenant of Grace Presbyterian Church, 820 Nicodemus Road, Reisterstown, with the Rev. Herb Ruby officiating. Private interment will be held at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
