Dale Oxley Obituary



Dale Donald Oxley, 85, of Westminster, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center from injuries sustained in an accident at his farm.

Born July 27, 1927, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Dorothy Augusta Stoll Oxley and Dale D. Oxley. He was the husband of Gloria Dorr Oxley, his wife of 64 years.

Before retiring he worked for C & P Telephone Company. He was a veteran of the Army. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a hospice volunteer and a member of Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ in Westminster and Immanuel United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, as well as the Telephone Pioneers and the Brooklyn Boosters.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Susan and George Hardinger, of Silver Run, and Dawn Oxley Musgrave, of Catonsville; grandchildren Corey and Howard Wilt, Casey Hardinger Staubs, Thomas and Ashlee Musgrave, and Samantha and Jan Skrok; great-grandchildren Will, Simone, Emma, Michael and Alice; and many family members and friends.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Merle Oxley.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service, 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ, 2950 Old Taneytown Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Gerald Hanberry officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to JDRF- Diabetes Foundation, 26 Broadway, New York, NY 10004; or Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ, 2950 Old Taneytown Road, Westminster, MD 21158.

Arrangements are by Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services in Westminster.

I am so glad that Leona and I were able to attend the family reunion and spend time with Dale and Gloria. What a great time we had. Not a better person you will ever meet. Our condolence to the Oxley Family. Dale will be missed by his family and friends.
