Sandra Lee Stephan, 64, of Union Bridge, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Carroll Hospice Dove House.
Born Oct. 12, 1948, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth E. Wantz and Helena Wantz Hanigan and step-daughter of the late Roger Hanigan. She was wife to Jerry D. Stephan, her husband of 21 years.
She was a 1966 graduate of Woodlawn High School and worked as a lab technician at Congoleum. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Union Bridge, the Women of the Moose
Lodge in Westminster and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2226 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing electronic games, slots at Charlestown, spending time with her dogs, playing dominoes and, especially, bingo.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children Andrea Schilling and spouse Rebecca Schilling, of Mardela Springs, Deena and William Rohrbaugh, of Manchester, Raina Powers and special friend Robert Rhoten, of Union Bridge, Tammie and David Harris, of Westminster, and Tessie Ruch and fiance Zac, of Arkansas; siblings and spouses Gary and Judy Wantz, of Sacramento, Calif., Linda and Lee Esworthy, of Westminster, Wayne and Sherry Wantz, of North Carolina, and Gloria and Wayne Hanixman, of Finksburg; brothers-in-law and spouses Wayne and Elise Stephan, of Westminster, Terry and Janet Stephan, of Union Bridge, Danny and Melanie Stephan, of Taneytown, Gregory and Judy Stephan, of Hampstead; James Stephan, of Hampstead, Charles Stephan, of Florida, Cletus Lippy Sr., of Keymar; sisters-in-law Lois Stephan, of Westminster, Diane Stephan, of Westminster, Linda and Burnell Lippy, of Westminster and Margaret Stephan and Randy Click, of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sister Phyllis Wildberger, infant brother Larry Wantz, first husband Charles Powers, father and mother-in-law Laura and Donald Stephan Sr., infant grandson Jim Walker, nephew Cletus Lippy Jr., infant brother-in-law Donald Stephan Jr., brothers-in-law Kenneth, Robert and David Stephan, Sr. and sister-in-law Barbie Lippy.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington, Road, Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard L. Michael officiating. Interment will take place in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
