Alene Stafford Bastin, a long time resident of Danville, died peacefully at the age of 92 on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at McDowell Place. Alene was the daughter of Clarence and Emma Stafford; the beloved wife of William "Ralph" Bastin; mother of Emma Joan Bastin Hargis; and sister of Kenneth Stafford, Maxine Floyd, Helen Carman, and Charles Stafford, all whom preceded her in death. She is survived by brother Billy (and Fern) Stafford and Margaret (and John) Hodges. Also survived by 12 devoted nieces and nephews and several grandnieces and nephews, all of whom loved her very much. Alene was an amazing cook who never let you leave her table hungry. There wasn't any craft she couldn't tackle. She especially enjoyed sewing, needlecraft, knitting and quilting. She also spent many hours tending her herb garden. Alene was also active in her church. Services were Feb 9 at Stith Funeral Home, 318 W. Broadway St., Danville.
