Alta Bernice Hatter Ford, 80, of Edgewood, was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Liberty and passed away Thursday, Dec 21, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late Aaron and Dottie Wilson Hatter.

On Oct. 5, 1968, Alta was united in marriage to Fred Harold Ford who preceded her in death Dec. 7, 2008.

Alta was a retired customer service representitive for Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals in Cincinnati. She was a former member and president of the Grant County Homemakers and Grant County Garden Club.
Some of Alta's biggest joys in life came through her passion for gardening, especially her award winning roses. She also enjoyed landscaping, painting and reading. She dearly loved her family and friends and spending time with them.

Alta is survived by two sons, Curt Foley of Cincinnati and John Foley of Newport; a brother, Paul Hatter of Shelbyville; two sisters, Martha Clark of Liberty and Becky Miller of Bradenton, Florida; two grandchildren, Vince Mitchell and Joshua Schehr, both of Dry Ridge; three stepsons, Jack Ford, Tom Ford and Jim Ford, all of Northern Kentucky; three stepdaughters, Sheila, Sherry and Linda, all of Northern Kentucky; and multiple stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Schehr; three brothers, J.L. Hatter, Jake Hatter and Buck Hatter; and two sisters, Lula Campbell and Ruth Bates.

The funeral was Saturday, Dec. 23, at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Crittenden. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery.
