Anna Lee Burris of Hustonville passed away peacefully Friday, July 18, 2014 in Stanford. She was 91. Born Jan. 1, 1923 in Hyden, she was the daughter of the late Olen and Sarah Collett Collins. Ann was the administrator of Green River Rest Home for 42 years before retiring in 2004. She was the chairperson of the Casey County Democratic Party for years and also worked in the office of the late Gov. Wallace G. Wilkinson. In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Hall Burris, who passed away May 7, 1971; a granddaughter, Ellen Burris (twin to Alitta); and a brother, John Collins. Survivors include her loving granddaughter, Alitta Burris (and Chris) Evans of Hustonville; a son, Marion (and Vera) Burris of Danville; a daughter, Wendy (and Allen) Van Lenten of Danville; grandchildren, Joseph Burris and Thomas Burris, both of Danville, Elizabeth (and Brandon) Tingle of Frankfort, and Sam (and Tina) McGohon of Elizabethtown; great-grandchildren, Tyler Baylee Evans and Taylor Leann Evans, both of Hustonville, Remington Lynne Tingle of Frankfort, and Olivia Ann McGohon of Elizabethtown; a sister, Kathryn Barnes of Florence; two special friends, Marilyn Coffey and Leanne Coffey Davis of Liberty; and her two beloved dogs and companions, Homer and Rufus. A celebration of life service was held July 21 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Douglas and Bro. Jim Powell officiating. Burial was in Casey County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Tyler Baylee Evans, Chris Evans, Joseph Burris, Thomas Burris, Brad Wesley and Otis Reed. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Kinnard, Jimmy Evans, Mike Ryan, Jerel Coffey, Bill Hansford, and Bob Coppings.
