Benny Lee Benge of Danville died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 68. Born Aug. 12, 1945 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late William Harden and Lucille Herrington Benge. Benny worked for 9 1/2 years at Corning Glass Works and then worked as a switchman for the Norfolk-Southern Railway Co. until his retirement. He is a lifelong member of Salt River Baptist Church where he served as the Brotherhood Director. He was a member of the last senior class of Parksville High School. He graduated in 1963 and recently attended his 50th reunion. Benny loved to hunt and was an avid outdoorsman, he cherished his family and friends and the time he spent with them. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles L. Benge. Benny is survived by his wife of 48 years, Myrna Householder Benge; two daughters, Jodi Carol Benge (and J.R. Sargent) of Parksville and Teri Ann McQueen (and Michael) of Casey County; three grandchildren, David Lee Bottom, Luke Michael McQueen and Levi Andrew McQueen; a sister, Judy Benge Brown of Perryville; and a brother, Jimmy Benge (and Charlene) of Danville; three sisters-in-law, Edna Benge Graham, MaryAnn Teater and Nikki McRay (and Earl); and several nieces and nephews whom he was very close to. The funeral service was Dec. 28 at Salt River Baptist Church with the Rev. David Evans officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville. Pallbearers were Marcus Benge, Derek Benge, Clay Benge, James Martin, Chad Yates, Brian Wiley and Trevor Wiley. All of Benny's close friends are invited to be honorary pallbearers.
