Mrs. Carla Jo Sanders Norris, 56, wife of Joseph E. Norris of Lexington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Feb. 26, 1961, in Casey County, the daughter of William Delain and Betty Rose Sanders. On Nov. 9, 2003, she was united in marriage to Joseph E. Norris. They recently celebrated their 14th anniversary at home together. Carla Jo had one daughter, DeLaina Renee Elmore (Nate Danvers) of Frankfort.

She gave her life to the Lord early on being raised by Christian parents and confirmed that proclamation many times during the battle with cancer. She was strong and courageous for seven years and never gave up the fight.

Carlo Jo was an employee of the Keeneland Racing Industry for 32 years, where she was loved by many. Her wit and charm made her an exceptional and valued employee and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Darrell Turner.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Joe Norris of Lexington; a daughter, DeLaina (Nate) Elmore of Frankfort; three sisters, Glenda Turner of Somerset, Wilma Thomas (Sam) of Harrodsburg and Theresa Walters (Byron) of Fisherville; two nieces, Lori Wade of Fort Wright and Taylor Grace Walters of Fisherville; and a nephew, Daniel Walters of Fisherville; a great-niece, Erin Reese Jones of Fort Wright; and all her friends and co workers at Keeneland.

A private visitation for immediate family will be held, Monday, Nov. 20. A celebration of life is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Crossing Road, Nicholasville, KY. Private burial is at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Dunnville.
