Charles Lucas, 90, of Middleburg, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016, in Danville.

Born Jan. 8, 1926, he was the son of Herman Francis and Zella Mae Lucas. Charles was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran. He was a lifelong farmer and a former employee of Watson's Gate Co. He attended Union College and was a lifelong member of Middleburg Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William (Bill) E. Lucas and Robert Lucas; and two sisters, Ruth Lucas Smith and Ruby Lucas Floyd.

Survivors include is wife of 60 years, Dollie Evans Lucas; two sons, Curtis (Patty) Lucas and Kenneth (Kathy) Lucas, all of Middleburg; a daughter, Mary Ann (Mark) Durham of New Salem; a sister, Madelle Lucas Stafford of Danville; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral was July 4 at Bartle Funeral Home chapel in Liberty. Burial followed with military honors by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard in Middleburg Cemetery.
