David Dale Irvine of Science Hill passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington. He was 65. Born in Bethelridge on Nov. 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Ruben and Elsie Higginbotham Irvine. He was a welder for Tecumseh and a farmer. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior on Jan. 7, 2014. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during Vietnam in B Company, 4th Battalion 47th infantry, receiving a Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Baker Irvine of Science Hill; a son, David W. Irvine of Science Hill; a daughter, Jennifer (and Chris) Powell of Science Hill; two brothers, Dean (and Connie) Irvine of Bright, Ind. and Gary (and Eunice) Irvine of Science Hill; six sisters, Margaret (and Elza) Jasper of Science Hill, Meg (and Hank) Johnson of Lexington, Ruby Joyce Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio, Elsie (and Bill) Cooper of Vaught Ridge, Glenda (and Hoy) Wilson of Science Hill and Vivian Kay (and Ralph) Loveless of Science Hill; and a granddaughter, Katelyn Crabtree. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Joseph Allen and Bro. James Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Vaught Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 15) at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home. Morris and Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
