Douglas Wayne Polston Jr., 33, of Somerset, departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016.

Doug was born on April 5, 1983. in Greenfield, Indiana, to Douglas Wayne Polston and Melanie Cook Morgan. He loved his country, hanging out with his family, working out and watching movies. He was a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in Afghanistan, and was trained in combat marksmanship.

He is survived by his mother, Melanie (Kenneth) Morgan of Somerset; his father, Douglas Wayne Polston of Russell Springs; two sons, Kace Ashton Polston and Kyle Andon Polston; his wife and mother of his children, April Sunshine Polston of Liberty; two brothers, Brandon Lee Polston and Waylon Layman Polston, both of Somerset; a stepbrother, Kenneth Morgan Jr. of Somerset; a sister, Mindy Lynn Polston of Somerset; two stepsisters, Tabitha Morgan and Heather Weddle, both of Russell Springs; his maternal grandparents, Myrna Cook of Greenfield, Indiana, and John Cook of Fortville, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Verdie and Dorothy Polston.

Visitation begins at 5p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial follows in Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 38 Honor Guard.

Pallbearers are Jared Polston, Brandon Polston, Kenneth Morgan Jr., Virgil Bray, Kace Cooper, Brian Bankston, Rick Troxtell, Corey Miller and Bobby Propes.
