Drama "LaVerne" McGinnis Davenport, 85, of Liberty, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Liberty Care Center.

Born Dec. 8, 1932, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Lyda McGinnis. LaVerne was a teacher. She was a member of Athens Church of Christ Liberty, Church of Christ, Willow Oak Church of Christ and Labascus Church of Christ. In the past, she enjoyed swimming, volleyball and horseback riding. LaVerne was an excellent Rook player and an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Murrell Davenport; two sisters, Laura McGinnis and Jan Moore; and three brothers, Les McGinnis, Jack McGinnis and Ronnie McGinnis.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Davenport of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Kimberly Davenport of Nashville, Tennessee; a son, Allen Davenport of Liberty; a grandson, Ryan Floyd of Liberty; a great-grandson, Logan Dale Floyd of Liberty; a sister, Janie McGinnis of Scottsdale, Arizona; and two brothers, Roger McGinnis of Ripley, Ohio, and Mike McGinnis.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with Brother J.D. McDonald officiating. Burial follows in Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Ryan Floyd, Johnathan Hopp, Roger McGinnis, Rick McQueary and Ron Powers.
