Elizabeth Land Turpin of Liberty died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at Casey County Hospital. She was 98. Born in Casey County on June 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl Bell Hoskins. She was retired from Wesley Drug. She was the widow of Eddie Land and Roy Turpin. Survivors include two sons, William Allen (and Jane) Land of Louisville and Mike (and Bonnie) Land of Lexington; grandchildren, Anne and Allen Land of Louisville and Beverly Crabtree of Lexington; one great-granddaughter, Kitti Boaz; and one brother, J.L. (and Evelyn) Hoskins of Hustonville. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Estil and Elmer Hoskins; four sisters, Pauline Roy, Bessie Richards, Eula Hankla and Mildred Hoskins. Funeral services were Oct. 6 at First Christian Church with Rev. Homer Hecht officiating. Burial was at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garland and Elwood Hoskins, Kent and Dwight Richards and Mel and Billy Hankla. Bartle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.bartlefuneralhome.com.
