Obituary

George William "Bill" Young of Corbin died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at the Kentucky Veteran's Center in Hazard. He was 95. Born in Middleburg, he was the son of the late Frank Lucian Young and Betty King Young. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Settles Young. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Wilham Hopper Young; a daughter, Linda Wincesten; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Billie Jean Poynter; six step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 22 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Sims officiating. Private interment was at the Lexington Cemetery with full military honors by the Honor Guard detail from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
