Glen "Big Boy" Napier of Kings Mountain passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at his residence. He was 83. Born June 30, 1929 in Casey County, he was a son of the late Owen and Ethel Martin Napier. Big Boy, as he was referred to by most, was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, Ronald (and Kathy) Napier of Kings Mountain; daughters, Brenda (and Jerome) Cummins of Middleburg, Retha (and Dale) Atwood of Kings Mountain, and Lisa (and Tim) Childers of Kings Mountain; sisters, Edith Snow, Faye Rowland, and Shirley Gooch, all of Kings Mountain, and Darlene Greer of Middleburg; six grandchildren, Jessica Carpenter, Amy Wood, Amanda Napier, Jantzen Denny, Macy Childers and Eli Childers; six great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Connie, Mike, and Makayla Walls of Yosemite. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Clark Napier; a son, Harold Dean Napier; a brother, Orville Napier; and a sister, Naomi Austin. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Pittman and Bro. Wayne Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in KP Hall Cemetery.
