Harvey A. Davis passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at his home in Casey County. He was 87. Born April 6, 1926 in Casey County, he was the son of the late Wiley A. and Nannie Mae Grooms Davis. He was a retired welder for Westinghouse Air and Brake. Harvey was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Harvey was the owner/operator of the Davis Apple Orchard since 1978. He was an avid guitar player. In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his wife, Oneita Malone Davis; a son, William J. Davis; an infant son; two infant daughters; a son-in-law, David Souders; five brothers, Frank, Alton, Paul, and Tom Davis and Ray Toms; and five sisters, Mintie Riddle, Thelma Benson, Mae Sharp, Nora Grant and Alice Allen. Survivors include a son, Phillip (and Cathy) Davis of Liberty; a daughter, Joanne Souders of Liberty, eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Pennington of Liberty. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Pitzer and Bro. Casey Davis officiating. Burial will be at Whited Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
