Irene Godbey Eoff, formerly of Eubank, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Danville. She was 100. Born Jan. 12, 1913 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Artie Durham Godbey. She was the widow of the late Chester Eoff, who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1988. Irene was a member of Eubank Church of Christ and attended Danville Church of Christ-Lexington Avenue for the past seven years. She was a homemaker and worked for five years as a teacher's aide at Eubank Elementary. Irene was a member of Eubank Homemakers for more than 20 years and loved to quilt and sew in her spare time. Irene leaves behind three daughters, Vonda Metcalf (and George David) of Lexington, Artie Ann Jolly of Atlanta, Ga., and Linda Sue Dykes (and companion-Billy Banks) of Harrodsburg; a brother, Thomas L. Godbey of Mt. Olive; four granddaughters, Pamela Metcalf Nolan (and Chuck) of Florence, Susan Jolly (and companion-Venka Thimaiah) of Atlanta, Ga., Sheila Mullen (and Robert) of Huntsville, Ala., and Sherri Lentz (and Jeff) of Chapel Hill, N.C.; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William Warner, John T., and Jefferson Godbey; and a sister, Anna Sims. A funeral service was held June 29 at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home with Scott Vifquain and Dale Robins officiating. Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery.
