James Frank Bowman, 88, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, University Hospital in Louisville.

Born May 19, 1928, in Marion County, he was one of seven children of the late Ben and Anna Alvey Bowman. He retired from Container Corporation after 34 years. He owned and operated Frank's Food Mart in Clementsville for 24 years. He was a member of St. Bernard's Parish.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Clements Bowman; five children, Keith (Susan), Mark (Becky), Lisa (Greg) Mullins, Ryan (Jill) and Blair (Dana); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice (Gerald) Mattingly of Indianapolis, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Pat (Patricia), Agnes (Buddy) Mills, Buster, Margaret (John) Jaco and JE (Cindy).

A funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at St. Bernard's Church in Clementsville. Burial follows in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
