Jewell Overstreet Luttrell passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Summit Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. She was 88. Born Oct. 11, 1924 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Perry H. and Bertha Crockett Overstreet. She was a cook at Phelps Elementary School for 35 years and a member of the Patterson Chapel Church of Christ. Ms. Jewell was the widow of Egbert Luttrell, who passed away July 20, 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Wright of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. and Wanda (and Jim) Simpson of Monticello; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Virgie Wilham of Erlanger; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Luttrell; four brothers, Perry Lincoln, Clarence, Clellie and Elmer Overstreet; and five sisters, Emma Evans, Myrtle Woods, Gertrude Evans, Ethel Sharp and Laura Norman. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 29) at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Luttrell Cemetery.
