Johnnie Ashford Sims, 77, of Crab Orchard, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.
He was the husband of Denola "Dee" (Salyers) Sims, whom he married on Dec. 13, 1975.
Johnnie was born in Waynesburg, Ky. on April 4, 1938.  He was the son of the late Duval Sims Sr. and Jestie (Roberts) Sims.
Johnnie served in the U.S. Army and was a paratrooper.  He was a member of the Watts Chapel Baptist Church and was a former Kentucky State Police officer. Johnnie was also a former Lincoln County Sheriff and a former Lincoln County Judge Executive.
He was a former truck driver for Consolidated Freight, and was a former East End Ambulance Board Member and served on many other boards and committees, too numerous to mention.
Johnnie is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Denola M. Sims; four daughters, Pam (and Carl) Hinkle, Laura Rimmer, Teresa Jones and Crystal Marlowe; a son, John Jr. (and Ruth) Sims; a sister, Nancy Hoover; three brothers, David Sims, Clinton Sims, and Duvall (and Elanor) Sims; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Nov. 3 at McKnight Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Rowe, Johnathon and David Hoover, Marian, Chris, Shane and Jeff Sims.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kentucky State Police Fund, 919 Versailles Road, Frankfort, Ky. 40601.
