Joseph Edwin Lucas of Indianapolis died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015. He was 72.
He was born in Middleburg on Sept. 1, 1942.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a fire fighter for the Indianapolis Fire Department, retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service. After retirement, he served on the Merit Board and enjoyed traveling, reading, his place in Kentucky, and his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Robert Carl Lucas.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Bonnie; his mother, Ruby Lucas; children, Robert "Dennis" Lucas and Julie Edwards; stepchildren, Mark Hopper, Jason Hopper, Michelle Hahn and Angela Braden; asister, Gerry Lawrence; a brother, Steven Lucas; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 1 at Flanner and Buchanan in Indianapolis.
