Lillard Pettyjohn of Russell Springs departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Russell County Hospital. He was 76. Lillard was born on Wednesday, March 3, 1937 in Casey County to the late Roscoe Pettyjohn and Bess Thomas Pettyjohn. Lillard served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a self-employed appliance repairman, loved fishing and gardening, especially vegetables and roses. He attended the Church of Christ in Russell Springs. Mr. Pettyjohn is survived by a daughter, Kim (and Gill) Burns of Russell Springs; a brother, Royce Pettyjohn of Cincinnati, OH; three sisters, Betty (and Bobby) VanHook of Somerset, Louise Thomas Breeding of Versailles, and Wanda Kay (and Jimmy) Woodrum of Georgetown; a special niece, Janet Sue (and Steve) Glauber of Carrollton; 28 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Meyer Rector Pettyjohn, Vertrice Pettyjohn, Willard Pettyjohn and Henry Pettyjohn; two sisters, Rena Pettyjohn and Roxie Pettyjohn Brown. Funeral services were held Jan. 15 in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Willie Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Thomas Ridge Cemetery. American Legion Post 38 conducted full military honors. The family request expressions of sympathy to be made to the American Legion Post 38.
