Lillian Raney, 93, of Kings Mountain, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at her home.

Born Sept. 25, 1923, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late John Nelson Bastin and Gracie F. Cooper Bastin. She was a homemaker and a member of Corinth First Church of God. Mrs. Raney enjoyed quilting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. William Tearl Raney, who passed away Feb. 11, 1981; a daughter, Bernetta Faye Raney; four brothers, Otis, Cecil, Robert and Travis Bastin; two sisters, Marie Salyers and Beulah Spears; and two grandsons.

Survivors include a son, Wendell V. (Teresa) Raney of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Carolyn Yvonne (Darrell) Carman of Lexington; three brothers, Norman (Betty) Bastin of Liberty, Leon Bastin of Indiana, and Jan (Lou) Bastin of Hustonville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was Thursday, Dec. 29, at Corinth First Church of God, with Brothers Marshall Malone, Bud Bastin and Tim Carman officating. Burial followed in Bethelridge Cemetery.
