Lois Jean Lawless, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Hustonville on Thursday, June 2, 2016.

Born Jan. 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Addie Gover Norris. She was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church and a longtime member of Gideon's Auxiliary.

Jean worked as Hustonville postmaster and clerk for 32 years and was a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. She taught Sunday School for more than 50 years and was a Lincoln County Library Board member.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jones Lawless Jr.; a daughter, Ginger Lawless East and son-in-law, Dexter of Hustonville; three stepgrandchildren: Sarah East, Rachel (Brian) Switzer and Daniel East; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Kennedy and Ella.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Billy Norris; and a sister, Anna Hovious.

The funeral was Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Brother Chris Dalton, Brother Keith Bowling and Dexter East officiated. Burial followed in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve, Jeff and Seth Lawless, Vernon Norris Jr., Greg Norris and Darrell Hovious. Honorary Pallbearers were Brenda Sanders, who served as her caregiver for the past five years, Carolyn Vonlinger and Merle Montgomery (caregivers), Brad Lawless, Nita Adams and Ann Reed Norris.
