Mary Magdalene Sims, 86, of Kings Mountain passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Stanford. Born Feb. 20, 1924 in Waynesburg to the late John and Emma Falconbury Reece, she was the widow of the late Raymond Sims. She was a seamstress serving factories for 20 years. She was a former employee of both Cowdens and Mercer Dress (Burgin). She was a Kentucky Colonel and also a member of Watson's Chapel Christian Church. Survivors include three sons, Lyndell Eugene Sims (and Judy), Raymond Conley Sims (and Juanita), and Dennis Lee Sims (and Cherry), all of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Pearl Short of Stanford and Wilma Hatter of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Sims; two sisters; and one brother. Funeral service was May 22 with Rev. Joe Hatter and Rev. Sherman Floyd officiating. Burial was at K.P. Hall Cemetery in Kings Mountain. Casket bearers were Billy Sims, Jason Sims, Wendell Sims, Jeff McWhorter, Kendell Sims, and Kaleb Sims.
