Mardena Lee Wilson Salyers, 78, of Lexington (formerly of Somerset and Liberty) passed away at her home on July 3, 2014. She was born on Oct. 29, 1935 in Casey County, to the late Lucian and Odella Rigney Wilson. She was a member of the Westside Christian Church and retired after 25 years of service as a sales associate with Belk. She loved shopping, fishing, spending time with family and friends and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. Mardena is preceded in death by her husband, Berkley D. Salyers; her sister, Almeda Wilson Francis; her brothers, Bill and Bobby Terrill Wilson; and a grandson, Ryan Lee Tucker. Survivors include a sister, Juanita Francis (and husband Ronald) of Fairfield, Ohio; a brother, Joe Clay (J.C.) Wilson (and wife Joan) of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Gladys Fletcher Wilson of Fairfield, Ohio; three children, Kevin Salyers (and spouse Lannie) of Lexington, KY; daughters, Sharon Salyers Gray of Hayward, Wisc. and Rhonda Salyers Fitzpatrick; three grandchildren, Allison Goode Stevens of Lexington, Lori Goode Dick (and husband Rodney) of Science Hill, and Charles (Chip) Michael Tucker of Indianapolis, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Hayden Dick of Science Hill; six grand-dogs, Sam, Lola, Max, Josie, Levi, Benny and Tyler; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. The celebration of life celebrating Mardena Salyers was held July 9 at the Pulaski Funeral Home. The graveside services were July 10 at the Salyers Cemetery, Mt. Olive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the , Lupus Foundation and the Lexington Humane Society. Pulaski Funeral Home was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
