Mary Jo Owens of Windsor passed from this life to the next, Monday, July 6, 2015 at her residence in Windsor. She was 75 years of age.
Born in Casey County on March 8, 1940, she was the daughter of Hobert and Hattie Buchanan Goodin.
Nan, as she was called by her grandchildren, was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She served in ministry as the wife of a pastor for more than 40 years and was a faithful member of the Carter Ridge Baptist Church in Mintonville.
She had a gentle spirit, a loving heart and was a living example of a true Proverbs 31 wife and mother.
Survivors include three children, Ricky (and Lesa) Owens of Windsor, Teresa (and Roger) Thompson of Windsor, and Ashley (and Reggie) Tipton of Windsor; 10 grandchildren, Ashton (and Jeremy) Stearns, Joshua (and Andrea) Owens, Wesley Thompson, Jesse Owens, Savannah Owens, Owen Tipton, Evan Tipton, Atty-Kate Tipton, Anslee Tipton, and Avery Tipton; two sisters, Dorothy Emerson of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. and Margaret Hudson (and Danny) of Sunbright Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Goodin of Windsor and James Goodin of Somerset.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hobert Goodin; her mother Hattie Buchanan Goodin; and her husband, Richard Lee Owens.
Funeral services will be today (Wednesday, July 8) at 1 p.m. CDT at Bernard Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Springs Cemetery in Windsor.
Pallbearers will be Charles Goodin, James Goodin, Danny Hudson, Wesley Thompson, Jesse Owens, Jeremy Stearns, Owen Tipton and Evan Tipton.
