Mary Rodgers of Liberty passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Council Oaks Assisted Living in Nicholasville. She was 85.
Born Aug. 22, 1930 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Ruth Wilkinson Grider.
She was a cook for 39 years for the Casey County Board of Education. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Rodgers; a daughter, Beverly Jean Rodgers; a grandson, Randy Lewis Rodgers; and 11 siblings, Ruby Lanham, Urine Wells, Katherine Boardman, and Melvin, Ray, Alma, Paul, Ralph, Lewis, Herman, and Charlie Grider.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (and Jock) Sutherland of Nicholasville; a son, James (and Brittney) Rodgers of Liberty; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were April 26 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Sanders, Tommy Rodgers, Josh Rodgers, Bryan Grider, Ronald "Cookie" Cook, and Josh Hines.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Dementia & of Kentucky or the First Baptist Church of Liberty.
