Maxine Stafford, 93, of Liberty, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

Born Sept. 1, 1923, in Liberty, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Ada Brown Hatter.

Maxine was a teacher and instructional supervisor in the Casey County School System, she was, in the WAVES (Womens Accepted Volunteer Emergency Services) for the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Westside Christian Church.

Maxine was the widow of Forrest "Bub" Stafford.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Gail Stafford Rousey of Lexington; a son; Danny Forrest Stafford of Loxahatchee, Florida; seven grandchildren, Scott and Chad Rousey, Deborah Ristaneo, Heather Wilkos, Daniel, Matthew and Zachary Stafford; seven great-grandchildren, Nate and Adam Rousey, Loren, Robert and Lucy Ristaneo, Abby and Ava Maxine Wilkos; a brother, Cecil (Norma Jean) Hatter of Liberty; and two sisters, Alma Vida (R.C.) Weddle of Liberty and Imodean Roy of Loveland, Ohio.
Besides her parents and spouse, Maxine was preceded in death by two sisters, Lizzie and Geneva Hatter.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Westside Christian Church, 966 Campbellsville St., Liberty with Brother Marty Shackelford officiating. Burial follows with military rites by the Casey County Honor Guard in Glenwood Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, and continues at noon Saturday, Feb. 11, at the church.
