Mildred Coffman Reed of the Rocky Ford community in Casey County died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013. She was 82. Born on Aug. 2, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of the late Leslie and Agnes Coffman Coffman. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Duell; a sister-in-law, Edith Coffman; and grandparents, Sam and Tommie Watson Coffman and William and Emma Padgett Coffman. She was a graduate of Bradfordsville High School, Campbellsville College and Eastern Ky Teachers College. Mildred was a retired elementary teacher where she taught for 35 plus years. Beginning in a one room school and ending at Cox Elementary in Casey County, she made a difference in the lives of many children. Mildred was a published poet and a member of Hustonville Baptist Church. She is survived by a nephew, (Ret.) Col. Robert D. Coffman Jr. (and Elaine) of Rome, Ga.; great nephew and niece, Jeremy and Caitlin; an aunt, Maxine Riley of Louisville; a special cousin, Elmer "Shorty" Coffman of Orange Park, Fla.; and several other cousins. Funeral services were Feb. 21 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro. Jonathan Grizzell. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery.
