Opal Taylor Thompson, 86, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, in Casey County.

Born Dec. 31, 1929, in Adair County, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Maude Price Taylor. She was an electronics technician for Rockwell International. Opal loved flowers and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Sharon) Pierce and Steve Pierce, both of Casey County; a daughter, Judy (Lloyd) Huegel of Casey County; five grandchildren, Shannon Maxwell, Heather Garrett, Chris Pierce, Shawn Pierce and Rachel Taylor; 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Everett Taylor; six sisters, Lola Taylor, Ada Bolt, Nell Goode, Stella Goode, Grace Ellis and Reable Scott; and a grandchild, Andre` Pierce.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with Brother Paul Patton officiating. Burial follows in Glenwood Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and continues at 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Chris Pierce, Jace Jikutz, Shawn Pierce, Hunter Pierce, Kayne Merriman and Chad Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Norfleet and Frank Kinnaird.
