R.C. Rupert Christopher Weddle Jr., 88, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, May 8, 2017, at his home on the same farm on which he lived his entire life.

Born Aug. 14, 1928, at Walnut Hill in Casey County. He was a devoted deacon and member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church his entire life, he served as Sunday School superintendent for more than 60 years. He took great pride in his family and his farm. He enjoyed sports and traveling, including visiting all 50 states and their capitals. R.C. also visited several countries in North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Alma Vida Hatter Weddle; two sons, Ronald (Linda) Weddle of Bardstown and Chris (Connie) Weddle of Liberty; nine grandchildren, Leslie (Dave) Schulz, Jason Weeks, Ryan (Jessica) Weddle, Aimee Weddle, B.J. Weeks, Joshua Weddle, Scott (Lara) Weddle, Jennifer (Darrell) Wittenauer and Kristin Weddle; six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and loving caregivers, Kathy Miller, Mary Miller, Joanie Rodgers and Odessa Wilkie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert Christopher and Laura Jane Price Weddle; a grandson, Bradley Lewis Weddle; two sisters, Deloris (Gerald) Sasser and Norma Jean (Charles) Murphy; and a brother, James G. (Zona) Weddle.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church in Liberty with Brother Rodney Smith officiating. Burial follows in Casey County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
