MSG (Ret.) Ronald Allen Martin, 69, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on Sept. 10, 1945, in Kings Mountain to the late Sherman and Opal Martin. While serving four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he served two combat tours in Vietnam, afterwards returning to Casey County where he owned and operated a small farm on Grove Ridge. Later, he served 17 years in the United States Army and retired in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Martin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Marie and James Henderson of Odessa, Texas, Sherry and Kenneth Morris of Rineyville, Ky., and Sandra and Bryan Shepard of Kermit, Texas; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Matrie Martin of Liberty and Randall and Irma Martin of Yosemite; and a sister and her husband, Connie and Steve Davis of Versailles; as well as many nephews and nieces He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. There will be a Service of Remembrance at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 3, at the Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville. He will be laid to rest in Nelson National Cemetery with military honors.
