Roy C McDonald passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Lake Cumberland Hospital in Somerset. He was 85.
Born Nov. 26, 1929 in Casey County, he was the son of the late George E. McDonald and Lucy Belle Watson McDonald.
He was a retired postal carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a farmer, factory worker, carpenter, and a brick and block mason.
Roy was also a member of the Athens Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Rollin (and Nancy) McDonald of Springfield, Ill. and Timothy Keith (and Sheila) McDonald of Liberty; a daughter, Martha Sue McDonald of Nancy; two grandchildren, Ashley Mae and Sarah Ann; and a sister, Lela Evelyn (and Marvin) Martin of Liberty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Ann Phelps McDonald, who passed away June 30, 2010; and two brothers, Cola and Hershel McDonald.
Funeral services were May 30 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. J. D. McDonald officiating. Burial was in Poplar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry McDonald, Timothy McDonald, Larry McDonald, Mark Abel, Brian Martin and Justin Gurley.
Honorary pallbearers were Sherrill Abel, Gary Daugherty, Stevie Martin and Glenn Caldwell.
The family requests donations to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, in memory of Roy C McDonald.
