Shella Pearl Atwood Terry, 86, of Liberty, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

Born on July 10, 1931, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Lester and Pearl Allen Atwood.

Shella loved her children and grandchildren. She was a kind hearted and loving "Granny" and "Mom." Shella also enjoyed fishing. She grew up in Carr's Chapel First Church of God.

In addition to her parents, Shella was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Terry; a daughter, Arlene Allen Kidd; a sister, Adell Miller; two brothers, Shelby and Arthur Atwood; and a great-great-grandchild, Aubrey Spalding.

Survivors include a daughter, Vicki (Larry) Burton of Liberty; three sisters, Myrtle (Irvin) Miller of Moreland, Sally Salyers of Liberty and Geraldine (Jesse) Salyers of Liberty; six grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Allen, Amanda Allen, Michael (Bridget) Evans, Wayne Evans, Becky (Kevin) Larson and Leeshell Vaught; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was Friday, Aug. 11, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with Brother David Noe officiating. Burial was in Whited Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jason Allen, Isaac Allen, Michael Evans, Wayne Evans, A.J. Vaught, Al Atwood, Jack Atwood and Wayne Atwood.
