Wanda Gifford passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at her home in Casey County. She was 73. Born Sept. 16, 1940 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Myrtle Godbey Hardwick. She was a homemaker and retired from Oakwood in Somerset. Ms. Gifford was a member of the South Fork Separate Baptist Church. Survivors include a companion, Vernon Wilson of Liberty; three sons, Timmy Gifford and Tony Gifford of Kings Mountain, and Trampes (and Jeanette) Gifford of Holland, Ind.; three daughters, Claudia Frances (and Phil) Hogue of Taswell, Ind., Wilma Jean (and James) Bunch of King Mountain and Tammy Michelle (and Tim) Marple of Liberty; five step-children; six grandchildren, Amanda Davis, Alesha Clark, Tansy Symonds, Tyler Marple, Skyler Gifford and Jazmyne Ramsey; eight great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Hardwick of Dunnville and Jerry D. Hardwick Sr. of McKinney; and two sisters, Sue Clements of Liberty and Peggy Leeper of Dunnville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Amy Bender. Funeral services were Sept. 22 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial was at South Fork Cemetery.
