Wilbert R. Evans, 92, of Odon, Ind. passed away at 4:07 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Born Sept. 24, 1922 in Dunnville, he was the son of Asa Sr. and Ida (Patton) Evans.
He served his country in the United States Army in World War II, Korean War and Laos.
He then worked for NSWC Crane as a Technician Specialist retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Odon VFW #9627.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Wilbert Dale Evans (Brenda Dove) of Odon, Ind. and David Michael Evans (Paula) of Linton, Ind.; three brothers, George Evans and Buford Evans, both of Bloomington, Ind. and Winfrey Evans of Hustonville; four sisters, Betty Downey of LaGrange, Dollie Lucas of Middleburg, and Delilah Lentz and Margaret Bowmer, both of Bloomington, Ind.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Overstreet) Evans on Jan. 30, 1997; two sons, Delbert Evans and Donald Evans; three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services were May 24 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Ind. Interment followed in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, Ind.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Odon VFW #9627 in Wilbert's name.
