Willard A. Patton, 81, of Waynesburg, formerly of Elmwood, Ohio, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, in Stanford.

Born March 21, 1935, in Casey County. He was the son of the late Herbert and Opal Helm Patton. He was the widower of the late
Rosetta Allen Patton, to whom he was married 51 years. She preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 2010. Willard was a U.S. Army veteran, serving two years of active duty and four years in the Army Reserves. He worked as a general laborer, worked at Sterns & Foster factory for 29 years and attended New Beginnings Worship Center Church of God of Prophesy in Waynesburg. Willard enjoyed eating at Pete's (Ruckel s Grocery & Deli), played the mandolin and guitar, sang in church for many years, enjoyed whittling and enjoyed bluegrass music.

Willard leaves behind two daughters, Gloria Sneed (Gerald) and Zelda Sneed, both of Waynesburg; a son, Allen Patton (Vicki) of Hartwell, Ohio; one stepson, Alton Clements of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Linda Patton of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Otis Patton (Nancy) of Casey County; and a sister, Ruby Clements of Casey County.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Patton; one son-in-law, Russell "Old Man" Sneed; and a brother, Lowell Patton.

The funeral is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home in Stanford with Brother Richard Ramsey officiating. Following the service, full military honors will be performed by the Caswell-Saufley Post No. 18 of the American Legion.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A graveside service is at noon Thursday, Oct. 27, at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine St., Cincinnati, OH 45220 with Brother Kerry Jones officiating. Burial follows the service.

Active pallbearers will be Calvin Patton, Ryan Patton, Steve Sneed, Dwight Sneed, Brandon Sneed and Allen Estes.
