Bro. William Carroll Jasper, "Baldy" or "Big Preacher," age 73, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at his home following a long illness.
William was born on May 13, 1944 in Pulaski County to the late Willie and Zella Vaught Jasper. He was a retired Methodist minister. He pastored at Brodhead, Center Post, Bruce's and Jennie's Chapel, Highland and Kings Mountain, Shady Grove and Mount Zion. He enjoyed trading knives and guns, and before his illness was a member of the Lake Cumberland Knife Club, Kentucky Colonel and a Gideon.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Haste Jasper, whom he married on October 31, 1964, at Bethelridge Methodist Church; three daughters, Kim Jasper of Burnside, Anita Jasper of Liberty and Melissa Marlow of Nancy; one son, William C. (and Janie) Jasper of Port Neches, TX; three sisters, Loueva Clark of Bethelridge, Reva (and Lilburn) Byrd of Shady Grove and Bonnie (and Larry Ben) Wesley of Argyle; one sister-in-law, Juanita Jasper of Radcliff; one brother, Danny (and Retha) Jasper of Somerset; six grandsons, Chase Abell, Daniel Abell, Troy Jasper, Tyler Jasper, Brandon Frank and Blake Frank; one step-grandson, Colton Songers; four great-grandsons, Nolan Abell, Cain Frank, Lincoln Frank and Liam Frank; and two great-granddaughters, Laylah Abell and Maddie Abell.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Barry Marlow; two brothers, Guy Jasper and Glen Jasper; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Preston Wells; one brother-in-law, Bro. Bobby Clark; and two siblings, Gary Jasper and Lorrine Jasper whom died in infancy.
Visitation was on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 after 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service was held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove Methodist Church with Bro. Ed Parton and Bro. Ronnie Moore officiated. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were William's grandsons, Chase Abell, Daniel Abell, Troy Jasper, Tyler Jasper, Brandon Frank and Blake Frank.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Shady Grove Cemetery Fund.
