William "Bill" Morgan Thompson of Middleburg died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014 at Casey County Hospital. He was 90. Born on Oct. 20, 1924 in Walnut Hill, he was the son of the late Clay and Ettie Morgan Thompson. Bill was a farmer, and a former Casey County magistrate for District 3, serving 13 years. He was a U.S. World War II Navy veteran and an active member of Middleburg Baptist Church, serving as song leader for 20 years. He was united in marriage May 1, 1946 to Ada Avoniel Short Thompson, who survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Gwen (and Donny) Grider of Middleburg; two grandsons, Donovan and Chaz Grider, both of Lexington; and two brothers, Clifford Thompson of Sharonville, Ohio and Lillard Thompson of Richmond. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clayton, Otis and Homer Thompson; and four sisters, Irene Witt, Christine Sharp, Evelyn Delk and Inas Clements. Services were Dec. 29 at Middleburg Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Bowling officiating. Burial was at Middleburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donovan and Chaz Grider, Victor and Julian Black, Garland Sharp and Larry Witt. Bartle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.bartlefuneralhome.com.
