Catheryn Osteen Gautreau, 89, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012 at the home of her daughter Robin Gautreau in Slidell, La.
She was a native and resident of Cedar Key. She was also a resident at different times in her life in both New Orleans and Slidell, La.
In addition to rearing four children, she also worked as a florist, a real estate agent, a restaurant owner and operator, a motel owner and operator and worked in a charter boat fishing business. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, cooking and fishing. She was mentioned in both the Florida Sportsman and the Gulf Coast Fisherman magazines and her photo was shown on the cover of each.
Survivors include son, Leon "Lee" Gautreau and wife Nikki Falcon Gautreau of Baton Rouge, La.; son-in-law, John Fradella Sr. of Cedar Key; two daughters, Robin Gautreau and friend Joel Ball of Slidell, La. and Gigi Gautreau (Kelly) Beckham of Bronson; seven grandchildren, Dawn Gautreau (Raymond) Gann of Denham Springs, La. and Brian (Margaret Martin ) Gautreau of Round Rock, Texas, John (Tanya Bamford) Fradella Jr. of Cedar Key, Alisha Beckham Smith, Tosha Beckham, Katie Beckham and Haley Beckham of Bronson; 11 great-grandchildren, Brance Gann, Christian "Chipper" Gann, Jadie Gautreau, Phillip Gann and Avery Gann, Lacey Gautreau, John Fradella III and Taylor Fradella, Chloe Smith and Charlie Smith and Emmy Beckham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Gautreau Sr.; daughter, Joy Gautreau Fradella; parents, John David and Rosa Sanchez Osteen; three brothers, John "Bud", Cecil and Houston "Red" Osteen; four sisters, Nadine Osteen Osteen, Corine Osteen Miller, Ruby Osteen Clayton and Madge Osteen Johnson.
Memorial services were held at First Baptist Church of Slidell Sept. 15 and also at First Baptist Church of Cedar Key, 717 Second St. Cedar Key Sept. 22 at 10:30 a.m.
