Carles Poston Hofmeester Marshall, 77, of Mineral, passed away on Jan. 31, 2019 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville. Carles was born on Sept. 8, 1941 in Wilson, La. to the late Carlos Lawton Poston and Myrtle Edney Poston of Baton Rouge, La. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Peeples, and brother, Jimmy Whitaker. Survivors include her husband, Archie Wayne Marshall; daughters, Barrie Savoie (Bob), Brent Taylor (Clint) and Buffy Koenig (Jason); grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas, Monica, Jordan, Austin, Philip, Kevin, Collin and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Oliver and Aliyah Rae; stepdaughter, Judi Marshall Croson (Rusty); sisters, Flo Davis and Tempie Hughes; brother, Perry Poston (Joan); and a host of other friends and family. Carles enjoyed painting, reading, collecting cookbooks, but mostly her grandchildren, along with many others who lovingly called her "Maw Maw." A memorial service will be held on Feb. 2 at Trinity Baptist Church in Mineral at 4 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at the Louisa Moose Lodge at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of her grandson, Justin Peeples, to SCTC Memorial Scholarship, 500 Varsity Drive, Griffin, GA 30223 (memo should include Justin Peeples, CIS Memorial Scholarship), or the Colon Club in honor of Natalie Savoie Speidel at colonclub.com.
