Edward R. Drapcho Sr. January 28, 1920 April 24, 2013 Edward R. Drapcho, Sr., 93, formerly of Clarence, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Hollidays- burg Veteran's Home. Born on Jan. 28, 1920, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Emro and Josephine Novak Drapcho, Sr. On Sept. 7, 1946, in Clarence, he married Susanna A. Seprish, who passed away on Nov. 12, 2009. Edward was a 1938 graduate from Snow Shoe High School. He worked as an Administrative Aid at the US Army Reserves Center in State College, retiring in 1982. Edward served in the US Army during WWII, where he earned the rank of 1st LT. He fought at Normandy GO 33 WD 45, Rhineland GO 40 WD 45, Northern France GO 46 WD 45, and Europe GO 45 WD 45. He was wounded three separate times and received three Purple Hearts. For his service, he received the PH w/2 OLC GO 293 HQ29th Inf Div 45 Unit Citations Go 33 HQ FUSA 44, EAME Theatre Ribbons w/4 Bronze Service Stars and Bronze Arrowhead. He was a member to the Queen of Archangel Parish in Clarence, Charter member of the American Legion Post 813, where he was Past Post Commander, Snow Shoe VFW Post #5644, Bellefonte Knights of Columbus, Clarence Moose Club #1565, Young Democratic Club in Clarence, and the Snow Shoe Fire Hall. In his younger days, Edward attended all kinds of sporting events, but his favorite was baseball. He would go on his front porch, pull up a lawn chair, and watch the Clarence Mounties play ball. He was the manager of the Clarence Mounties at one time. He looked forward to attending his grandchildren's activities. Edward is survived by his children, Claudia J. Bucha (Andrew), of Clarence, Edward R. Drapcho, Jr. (Patricia), of Clarence, Regina R. Schall (Edward), of Clarence, Cynthia M. Carlson (Ronald), of Snow Shoe, Susan Marie D. Fye (Daniel), of State College, Ronald Joseph E. Drapcho (Gracanne), of Pleasant Gap; his grandchildren; Michael A. Bucha (Jaimy), Andrew F. Bucha, Jr. (Amy), Kim-Marie Bucha, Jeffery E. Bucha (Joannie), Joseph W. Bucha (Megan), Edward R. Drapcho, III (Michelle), Jacqueline Marie Yeaney (Michael), Edward J. Schall, Jr. (Judy), Karen Sue De Simone (Joe), Brian E. Schall (Christi), Amanda Schall, Ronald L. Carlson, Jr. (Trisha), Matthew E. Carlson, David Lee Fye (Chrissy), Daniel A. Fye, Jr. (LaCrisha), Gwynne Marie Decker (Shane), Alesha Marie Gavlock (Kyle); and by his 27 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Josephine "Joann" Kyle, of Riverside, Calif. Along with his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Phoebie E. Yeaney; great grandson, Alexander E. De Simone; and three brothers, Emro, Cyril, and Joseph. Friends will be received on Sunday, April 28, 2013, from 2-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:45 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St.. Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, April 29, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Queen of the Archangel Church in Clarence with Father Neil Dadey officiating. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Clarence American Legion, c/o Honor Guard, 1171 Clarence Rd., Clarence, PA 16829. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St., Snow Shoe.
