Martin R. London August 24,1922 May 14, 2016 Martin R. London, 94, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born August 24, 1922, in Big Run, a son of the late Austin and Dessie London. In 1949, he married Dorothy l. Kucharski. Mr. London was a 1940 graduate of Sykesville High School. He served overseas during World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1942 to 1946. He then attended Penn State University and graduated with a degree in Finance and Commerce in 1950. Martin worked as a cost accountant for Cerro Metal Products in Bellefonte for nearly 35 years. He had a deep interest in world affairs, finance, and the stock market. He was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and in his spare time loved to farm, hunt, garden, and fish. He also was very talented at woodworking and spent many hours in his home woodshop. Martin was a faith-centered man and served as director of finance for Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Bellefonte YMCA for over 25 years. Martin's love and affection centered around his family. He had three granddaughters, Alex London-Gross, Kelly London, and Melanie London who affectionately knew him as "Pup-Pup". He was a very active grandfather and enjoyed taking his granddaughters to Penn State football games, playing cards with them, and taking them to his old homestead. Surviving are his wife of 67 years; two daughters: Deborah London, of Bellefonte and Dr. Patricia London (Jim), of York; and his son, Ray London (Kathy), of Bellefonte. Lastly, Martin had a great passion for golfing and preferred to walk all 18 holes well into his 80s. To his beloved predeceased golfing pals: Leonard, Vince, and Jim - your fourth has arrived for a tee time. Private services are in the care of Heintzelman Funeral Home in State College.
