Barbara Raphael Obituary

Barbara Marie Raphael March 12, 1927 - November 24, 2004 Barbara Marie Raphael, 77, of State College, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born March 12, 1927, in Muncie, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Francis E. and Mary Underwood Brady. On September 3, 1949, she married David L. Raphael, who survives at home. She graduated from Burris High School in Muncie, IN. She received a BA in Philosophy from Barnard College in New York City and did graduate work at Penn State University in Philosophy. She was an instructor in the Humanities Dept at Penn State University for 7 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She was a volunteer for many years at Birth Right. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 daughters, Ann Lees Dillard and her husband Michael of Glenside, PA, Mary Crane Farrow and her husband Jay of Westtown, PA; a son, Jonathan B. Raphael of Burlington, Vermont, a sister; Sheila Brady of Tarpon Springs, Florida and five grandchildren, A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 29, 2004 ,at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Nale officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Citizens Concern for Human Life, PO Box 756, State College, PA 16804 or to the Gabriel Project, c/o Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801, Arrangements are under the direction of Koch Funeral Home.
