No longer will Dave's footsteps be heard in the remote forests of northern Idaho, but unlike other footsteps, his left a legacy of restoration and protection for the rivers, lakes and streams he loved so much. The wild waters will miss you Dave.

Laura, Emma, and Sarah, words cannot express how shocked and sorry we feel at Dave's untimely death. We are holding all of you, including your parents, in our thoughts and prayers. Dave was always the strong, quiet man who helped in so many ways, such as moving tables at church or frying chicken fingers at the concession stand! He was always so proud of all of you, and willing to do anything to make your lives better. He will surely be missed! Love, Nickie and Warren Askov, State College, PA

I worked with Dave for the last 7 years. Neither of us are very talkative and there were many days when we said hello in the morning, let each other know when we left for lunch, and goodbye in the evening as we left for home. With the intensity of some of our work projects there just wasn't a lot of time for socializing. However when Dave and I had to travel for work, I enjoyed the conversations we had along the way. He as a good friend and colleague and will be greatly missed at ASA.
